In fall 1969 there were 33 fraternities on campus with an enrollment of 3020 members where as in fall 1978 there were 24 fraternities and enrollment of 2800 numbers. While many fraternities folded that decade those that remained grew large and unwieldly and mirrored the unhealthy environment of sorority membership in so far as ranking, elitism, and socializing with only certain sororities further weakening the overall Greek system. Just refer back to the sorority closings listed in this thread.
