To answer your question about why there aren't more Panhellenic sororities on campus, read the above in-fighting. Texas is a viscous and highly competitive Greek campus. There are hundreds of girls who go through rush every year who think their social lives are ruined if they don't get a bid from PKT or Big 6. Some even pack up and go home, too blind to see that there are 6 other houses that are full of beautiful, accomplished women with strong sisterhoods and fun social lives. Why aren't there more chapters at UT? Because the "pecking order" is so ingrained in campus culture that because Big 6 are untouchable, the other 6 spend all their time fighting about who is middle and who is lower. New houses hardly stand a chance. It would be a race to tear the new house down and put it in it's place.
