it will go one of two ways. either more girls will come out to recruitment because they realized that being in a sorority is not all the movies make it out to be, or fewer girls go through because they already made their friends and don't need another obligation. on the one hand, GW does have a strong turn out every year for upperclassmen in recruitment, which suggests that girls who don't go through as a freshman realize that greek life is more than just the stereotypes and they want to be a part of something they feel would be beneficial. on the other hand, GW also has a low retention rate, lots of chapter closures in recent history, and last year's recruitment had a smaller turnout than years before. It can also change the way that sororities are viewed by PNMs. it's pretty easy to keep up a facade of sisterhood during the first few weeks, but PNMs will see sorority members in their classes, in their student orgs, and out at parties. This means they either get bombarded with dirty rushing through sanctioned interactions, or they realize that the stereotypes of "xyz is the hottest" or "abc is only for awkward rejects" aren't true, because they've met more girls in more chapters. Again, could go either way.
