Texas State will never compete with UT. They are a flagship school admitting vastly more high quality students in every sense of the word. We will never be able to charge anything close to the dues they do and it will always be significantly harder to reach the same quality standards here. That's the different between a tier 1 flagship and a tier 2-3 school, especially one in the geographic shadow of a flagship and with plenty other distractions that make Greek life less appealing to lots of students than if we were in some more isolated area. None of that means UT is a top system nationally by comparison to places like bama or ole miss. It's not. That's the nature of Greek life in Texas and always will be. We're still a lot better than the north or west. The Greek system at Texas State is pretty darn good for what we have to work with. It'll get better in the next 50 years, but it'll always be second class. No one comes to this school thinking it's going to be anything but that. However, we absolutely do a lot more for the school than the UT system or many other campuses. This is a very active system with some exceptional leaders. We can get better, but that's a two way street. The point of fraternities is not supporting the school. That's more of a quid pro quo thing than part of the mission. The school has started talking more supportive in the last few months after being at war with us for 20 years. As long as that continues things will improve in the relationship.
