UF greek life cares about ranks a lot more than most other schools. As much as we like to think they don't matter, they do in some cases. For example, the top 5 social houses (KD, DDD, ADPI, ZTA, DG) have 10x the opportunity for date functions and socials than anyone else. However, I believe that social ranking is just one part of it. If you find yourself more academically focused, you can rank houses based on their GPAs and involvement. Some of those top 5 social houses rank near the bottom of GPA (DDD, DG, ZTA). Some socially "low ranking" houses are near the top (AEPhi, Phi Mu). Do research, talk to people before rush who have an idea of the "vibe" of each house. I'm in a fraternity at UF and can say that tier does matter for social events, but for sisterhood/brotherhood it could not matter less. 90% of your time is spent with your sisters/brothers in non-party settings, so make sure you find people that you actually like regardless of social standing. The last thing you want is to be around a group of people you can't stand and pay $3k+ a semester to do so. Overall, be informed about anything you do in life so you can make the best decision possible. Just be sure to look at more ways to criticize a house other than their social standing alone.
