No sorority should haze, at all. Rumors are out there, and most of the time they are just that, rumors. Speaking for my sorority, we have a strict anti-hazing policy. If our Nationals even got a hint we were hazing, they would shut us down, stat. And they have done that to other chapters, so they do not play when it comes to hazing. That being said, if you join a sorority and it does haze, drop them. You don't want to be a part of an organization who hazes to prove your worth to them. Also keep in mind, different orgs have different definitions of what hazing is- some groups won't let you wear letters until initiation, but my org and others want you to feel welcome from the start, so you can wear letters from day 1. If we told new members they couldn't wear letters after they got their bid, our Nationals would call us out for hazing. But take that with a grain of salt; I am not sure if there are sororities out there still who won't let you wear letters until initiation, but if you do join one, that's not a big deal. If a group hurts you, physically or mentally- that is hazing, and that is a huge deal.
