of course - that is completely true. But the top houses are consistently top houses at all the top colleges in the US. The bottom may be top somewhere, but probably not a college anyone cares about. The only point in a national ranking is understanding who your lifetime connections will be with. Because connections matter. And when you have a choice, it makes sense to choose a house with the best lifetime connections.
